Leadership Shumaker Donates to Area Charities

TAMPA, FL – The law firm of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP, is pleased to announce that Leadership Shumaker, a charitable program within the firm, recently donated $200.00 to Metropolitan Ministries of Tampa Bay, $200.00 to The First Tee of Tampa Bay, $835.00 to International Medical Corps for use in support of Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Relief, $1,000.00 to the TAMCO Foundation to support wounded veterans, and $5,205.00 to Tampa Bay Beautification to support the STEPS Scholarship Foundation.

Tampa Associate, Mindi Richter, serves on the Board of Directors of The First Tee of Tampa Bay whose mission is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf. Since its inception in 1991 as Urban Junior Golf, the First Tee of Tampa Bay has introduced the game of golf and its values to more than 10,000 kids in Hillsborough and Pasco County.

In addition, Associate Jason Stearns, serves on the committee for the Grand Slam Fishing Tournament which supports the TAMCO Foundation, a non-profit, non-partisan charity which provides direct support to military veterans from Florida who have been severely wounded and disabled while serving our country. The overarching aim is to embrace these American Heroes and their families throughout their recovery and their return home as they rebuild their lives and endure associated challenges from their disabilities.

Partner, Brian Lambert, serves on the Board of Directors of Tampa Bay Beautification and Associate, Kathleen Reres, serves on the STEPS committee. Tampa Bay Beautification is a non-profit, organization whose mission is to provide environmental educational and volunteer opportunities that develop environmental stewardship and improve Tampa Bay's neighborhoods and parks. The STEPS program was organized in 1995 and provides part-time jobs to students in inner city neighborhoods. STEPS partners with the College Reach Out Programs (CROPS) at HCC and USF to identify students eligible for STEPS and to provide SAT/ACT/FCAT preparation, homework assistance and tutoring, academic enrichment activities, worships in self-esteem building and leadership, conflict resolution training, academic advising and college visits.

Through the generosity of its members, Leadership Shumaker continues to raise money for various local charities throughout the year.
