Thomas E. Toner is a Registered United States Patent Attorney who focuses his practice on patent prosecution, copyright, trademark, trade secret and related technology litigation. He also represents clients in the areas of patent and trademark litigation, domain name disputes, and proceedings before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB). His experience in patent prosecution includes medical devices, technology components, photolithography, electronics, MEMS, communications systems, computer hardware and software, internet business methods, municipal and localized wastewater treatment and construction with a focus in therapies and pharmaceuticals for the treatment of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases.
Tom has devoted his legal career to the practice of intellectual property, working closely with startups, established businesses and major research institutions such as the University of South Florida and Florida State University. The majority of his work has involved protecting and assisting in the commercialization of the intellectual property resulting from both private and university-generated research. As a result, Tom has developed an extensive knowledge regarding the spectrum of intellectual property issues facing businesses in the Tampa Bay area as well as technology transfer and commercialization.
