PETER R. SILVERMAN is a partner in the litigation practice group in the Toledo, Ohio office of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP. His principal area of practice is commercial litigation. He has substantial experience in a number of specialty areas, including franchising, alternative dispute resolution, intellectual property, and antitrust.

Mr. Silverman is an active arbitrator and mediator. Since 1985, he has been a member in good standing of the National Roster of Neutrals of the American Arbitration Association. He has served on the neutral panel for the Northern District of Ohio since its inception. He teaches seminars nationwide and writes widely on alternative dispute resolution. In 2010 and two prior years, Franchise Times® recognized him as one of the nation's top 100 franchise lawyers. Best Lawyers lists him as one of America's best franchise, alternative dispute resolution and commercial litigation lawyers, and he is recognized by Ohio Super Lawyers in the franchise law category. He is an appointed member of the Litigation and Alternative Dispute Resolution Committee of the ABA Forum on Franchising, a member of the IFA/CPR Franchise Mediation Program Steering Committee, and the Ohio Legaline counsel for the American Association of Franchisees and Dealers. He is a member of the Entrepreneurial & Business Excellence Hall Of Fame, awarded by the University of Toledo and Bowling Green State University, for his work in helping business owners start and grow their businesses.
