 |
KAREN S. HOCKSTAD is a partner in the corporate, tax, and litigation practice groups in the Columbus, Ohio office of Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP. Her principal areas of practice are general business and corporate matters, tax controversy and tax planning, commercial litigation, including complex business litigation and employment matters, and IP litigation.
Ms. Hockstad has extensive experience in representing a wide range of businesses, including, restaurant and entertainment companies, real estate holding companies, internet and etail companies, as well as individual entrepreneurs with all of their business-related needs. She also has significant experience litigating at the state and federal levels on behalf of these clients. She is licensed before the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, the United States Tax Court, and is also licensed to practice in Michigan and Ohio.
Ms. Hockstad has been named a Super Lawyer® in the State of Ohio for several years in the areas of corporate law and employment law. |

Ms. Hockstad is a member of the Columbus, Ohio State, and American Bar Associations, as well as the State Bar of Michigan. Ms. Hockstad is Chair of the Corporate Counsel Section Council and is a member of the Litigation Counsel Section Council for the Ohio State Bar Association. She serves on the Board of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mid-Ohio Chapter, is the chairperson for the Board of Trustees for the Conway Family Business Center of Central Ohio and has served on the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Board for fifteen years helping to raise money for oncology research and child abuse prevention. She was honored with the 2006 Columbus Bar Association Community Service Award. She is also a member of the University of Michigan Alumni Association of Central Ohio. |
