A Principal with Shumaker Advisors/Florida LLC, Carlye is an effective and efficient advocate for her clients. She has significant experience acting as a government and regulatory affairs advisor, including working as Legislative Assistant to Congresswoman Kathy Castor in Washington and Outreach Director in Tampa where her policy portfolio included education, small business, and the arts. During this time, Carlye also worked on a presidential campaign during the 2008 election cycle. Subsequently, she consulted for a public policy think tank and provided public engagement for a Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation nonprofit. Additionally, Carlye served as the Senior Director for Government Relations for the Greater Tampa Chamber of Commerce, providing local, state, and federal advocacy to the business community on a wide variety of legislative topics, including healthcare, transportation, US-Cuba relations, defense, and tax policy.
Prior to launching her career in public policy, Carlye first served as a middle school educator in Texas, where she was named Teacher of the Year. She holds a master’s degree in public administration from the American University and a bachelor’s degree in English from Southern Methodist University (SMU).
Carlye is proud to be a Tampa Bay Native. She enjoys being a mom and having extended family close by. In addition, Carlye loves to read, she is passionate about education, and she likes being outdoors, especially in Appalachia.
