Patty is a senior paralegal in the Litigation practice area in the Shumaker, Loop & Kendrick, LLP Toledo office. Her interest in the law was stirred in high school when she took a business law class. After graduation, she began working as a court runner and filing clerk, quickly moving up to legal secretary where she was encouraged to go to school to become a paralegal. Patty decided to go to night school while working full-time during the day, earning her degree in 1991.
Currently, Patty has more than 30 years of experience in the legal community. She has extensive experience in general civil litigation, which includes:
- Drafting motions
- Notices and discovery documents
- Managing document production
- Document and exhibit organization
- Deposition preparation and digesting
- Medical records summaries
- Cite checking
- Background and witness investigations
- Reviewing and preparing spreadsheets for damage calculations
She also manages large amounts of documents and data and high volume party actions, including multi-district litigation, as well as all aspects of trial preparation, including attendance at trial. Having experience in several different venues, including local, county, state and federal government actions, allows her to understand many of the processes necessary to get things done.
When not at work, Patty enjoys athletic hobbies, such as volleyball and golf, as well as spending time with her family, including her two college-aged children.
